Why commit to sharing our experiences on 52 Cheap Dates?
I’ve never done very well with New Year’s resolutions. I get really into them for a few months, especially when I can see improvement. But then... there is that point when things get busy and priorities shift. That’s where you come in. Even if you and my mom are the only people who end up reading this blog, I am likely to complete this challenge because I have you. Thank you for being here. If you let me know you’re here occasionally I may still be here on December 31, 2019.
What’s my challenge this year? I’m going to blog weekly about attempting the 52 Cheap Dates Challenge and I hope you will join me in trying the challenge as well.
Why would I put myself through this? A few days before the end of the 2018, I was reflecting on the year when I saw the new 2019 version of the 52 week photography challenge that I failed to complete in 2018. I loved every minute; it was challenging and it forced me to spend time actually learning and improving my photography. I only made it through April. How would 2019 be any different?
It took some thought, but I figured out how to combine almost all of my passions (living big on very little money, practicing photography, exploring Phoenix, writing, and calendaring cheap events) into one activity, this blog. Oh, but I am married and I need a way to make sure I am not neglecting my husband in the meantime.
Inspired by the 52 Week Dogwood Photography challenge that I love so much, I came up with the 52 Cheap Dates Challenge. My sarcastic and witty husband, Fitz, agreed to try the challenge with me and to share his unfiltered opinions and reactions in this blog. He did not want to see the details ahead of time. That’s probably for the best. I can already imagine his reaction to a few of these. DIY painting and craft night? Yeah, we’ll see.
Please join us on this journey. Your relationship status is irrelevant. These 52 dates are mainly about spending intentional time with those close to you so we can live big and spend less. Pick and choose who you include in which dates. Though you do not need to do the dates in order or do one each week, if it makes it easier to have a focus each week, you may download the calendar version.
We look forward to hearing how it goes.
